The Walking.School collective convenes (weather willing) every two weeks on a Sunday,
around 12:00-2:00 pm. In every excursion we walk a different path through Amsterdam (and its proximity). The walks last about two hours and are circular.
What to bring with you
Good walking shoes. The shoes should be broken-in, don’t start a long walk with new shoes!
Appropriate clothing for the time of the year
A small backback with water and some food (in case you get low on sugar)
A camera or smartphone for snapshots

We collect here highlights of the Walking.School excursions, in order of appearance.
Summary The fifth Walking.School excursion took place in the Amsterdamse Bos on 27 March 2022, starting at 12:30 pm, lasting for a good three hours and covering 12.7 km in a loop.
The walking path visits a number of interesting corners of the park, some less known than others. Our trail was circular, starting from the main park entrance and going counter-clockwise around the park’s perimeter.

Summary The fourth Walking.School excursion took place in Noord Amsterdam on 13 March 2022, starting at 1:00 pm and lasting for a couple of hours.
The walking path was in Amsterdam Noord, a corner of Amsterdam not well known to tourists but with its own unique character. Our trail was mostly linear, starting from the ferry all the way to the Schellingwouderpark and back, with a stop for coffee and tea at the Cafe’t Sluisje.
Summary The third Walking.School excursion has broken some new ground! It is our first walk outside Amsterdam, namely the beautiful fortified town of Naarden.
Walking.School 03 took place on 27 February 2022, starting at 2:30 pm and lasting for a couple of hours.
The walking path was first along the outside perimeter of the fortifications then the same inside the town.

The second Walking.School excursion is a reality! A walk in Central Amsterdam by the Ij. We started at Amsterdam Centraal, walked along Oosterhavengbiet all the way to the iconic Pythonbrug. We returned via the Nieuwe Markt where we finished the walk with tasty cookies!

Walking.School 02 took place on 12 February 2022, starting at 2:00 pm and lasting for a couple of hours. This is roughly the path of the walk.
The very first Walking.School excursion! A long walk in Amsterdam Zuid, loosely following a marked 10km route. Along the way we visit the Amsterdamse Bos and finally end up in the Amstelpark
Summary The very first Walking.School excursion! A long walk in Amsterdam Zuid, loosely following a marked 10km route. We started where the loop crosses the Beethovenstraat and went clockwise. We wandered briefly into the Amsterdamse Bos, then crossed the Buitenveldert and into the Amstelpark where we finished the walk with tea, coffee and waffles!
